UPDATE 11/20/2013: This site/portfolio is becoming quickly outdated. Looking to move this content elsewhere. In the mean time please contact me for more recent work examples/etc. Thanks!
Greetings! I am a ui/ux designer located in the 'burbs' of Denver, CO. UX Design is my preferred medium, but I also have a visual design background and can take on Web/Print design challenges as well. Fantastic design inspires me, but I also find beauty in well written semantic code. Over the past few years I've become quite fascinated with how users interact with designs and interfaces. UI/UX design seems to be my design passion and where I am the happiest.
Optimism guides my life and I like to follow my instincts. My goal in life is to have enough stories to write a book, even if I never actually get around to writing it. In addition to design, I've spent time as a white water guide, professional photographer, and ice hockey referee. I have lived in my tent/car for about 6 months and I have traveled quite a bit within the states. So I feel like I've got quite a few chapters written already.
I was born and raised in the steel town of Bethlehem, PA. After graduating from Kutztown University with a BFA in Communication Design, I packed up my car and moved to Colorado in search of high peaks, deep powder & raging rivers. Colorado has treated me well and I don't have any intentions of leaving (unless of course Patagonia has a tech boom in my lifetime).
During the week, you can find me creating wireframes/flows or heads down in an Adobe product. I've also been known to sling some front end code (html/css). On the weekends, I like to disconnect through snowboarding, climbing, mountain biking, skateboarding, & my latest obsession... vintage BMW motorcycles (my current project is an 83 BMW R80rt that I'm converting into a budget scrambler). In addition, I'm an avid music lover/seeker and a craft beer snob who loves home brewing.
Below is a sample of my work. It's not easy to whittle one's work down to a small enough set to share, but confidentiality agreements and other privacy contracts certainly help! More UI/UX work is available upon request (wireframes/sitemaps/flows/etc). Enjoy!
An explorational and detail oriented approach to design. Strong leadership qualities, accompanied by an excellent work ethic. The ability to roll with the punches, and stay optimistic during a challenge. I really enjoy the software development process from wireframe to implementation, and love being involved as much as I can with each step.
Comprehensive knowledge and experience in the Adobe Creative Suite, Balsamiq, Omnigrafle, and Wire Framing; mastery of HTML and CSS (HAML/SASS/LESS); working knowledge of jQuery, Backbone, Bootstrap, Ruby on Rails, git and GitHub; experienced fan boy of the Scrum/Agile process; advocate of user testing; Apple junkie, but can get around on Windows operating systems.
Here is a comprehensive list of my education and work experience.
Graduated in December 2007 with a BFA in Communication Design

Superior, CO | June 2011 - June 2013
In charge of UI/UX as well as Visual Design for many aspects of the DISH Anywhere application. Working directly with the customer to create clean well thought out UI/UX for their expanding online streaming service. Direct involvement with concept/goal origination, site mapping and flow, wire framing, visual design, and finally hand coding much of the HTML/CSS needed to implement.
DISH Anywhere was launched at the beginning of 2013, and is the first web app I've been involved with from inception all the way through to implementation. I worked tirelessly on the flows/wireframes all the way into the final Photoshop Designs. Only to jump in and custom skin Twitter Bootstrap to give the site its own look and feel. I really enjoyed this process, and hope to be able to do more work like it in the future.
